Inlays
The image is a close-up of the Abalone sound-hole Rosette which comes with the Contemporary Hawaiian Guitar models.  This can be upgraded to Mother of Pearl for an additional charge.  Full sound-board inlays are also available which include ebony/maple/ebony purfling on both sides of the abalone (as shown in the picture) and a Koa binding along the sound-hole and binding edge. (See the Bunnel for an example of full sound-board inlays.)

Besides the traditional sound-board and fret inlays, Michael also has access to a computer guided inlay cutting machine which allows any shape to be inlayed into the wood, allowing almost any image imaginable to be inlaid into the neck, head-stock, fret-board, body, front, and/or back. So follow your dreams and let us know how we can make them come true.  Simply tell us what you'd like by filling in the Custom Inlay section of the ordering page.

Anahola Mountains fret inlay
The Anahola Mountain logo can also be inserted into the fret as fret markers. This handsome and unique design are mother-of-pearl Anahola mountains are each smaller in size as they progress up the neck with pearl Koa leaves at the 12th fret.

Cutaway
Any model guitar can be "cut away". This allows for more playing freedom and ease in reaching the higher end of the neck for the more advanced, rhythm, jazz, slack-key, and blues players.

Pickups
Mickey uses L.R. Baggs iBeam Bridgeplate Transducers.  The patent pending iBeam itself is the heart of the system and weighs only 1/3 of an ounce. This revolutionary bridge plate transducer easily sticks to the bridge plate on the inside of the guitar and does not affect the acoustic tone of the guitar in any way. The iBeam is microphonic enough to hear the rich (but correct) texture of finger squeak and top tapping, but is resistant to feedback and gives you an amplified sound that is exactly the same as the instrument but only louder. This pickup has a wider frequency range than anything being made today, plus a tremendous dynamic response. This pickup comes professionally installed for the same price one could find the pickup alone.
Graphic equalizers, both external or internally are available. Michael suggests the L.R. Baggs Feedback Master for an external equalizer.
Cases
Custom hard-shell cases fitted to the exact shape of the instrument.  A good case protects the instrument from accidental damage as well as stabilizing humidity in the case, furthering the life and playing quality of the instrument.
Ebony Tuning Pegs
Ebony Tuning pegs are available.
