This big bodied Koa guitar has evolved over the maker's 30 years of living
and working in the rain-forest of Kaua'i, where the ancient Hawaiian Koa
grows, and most recently the last 7 years of intensive design refinements
in the use of the Koa as a musical instrument sound-board for both classical
and steel string guitars. The dreadnought size depth of the body,
with its 25.5 inch scale and the doming of the top and back, coupled with
the big rich tone of the Koa, provides an enormous range of overtones
to compliment the many styles of music being played today, thus bringing
the Koa to the forefront of musical expression and earning its name--the
Contemporary Hawaiian.
Basically an enlarged parlor guitar, this instrument possesses a huge
rich tone sought by so many players. Rare however is the balance of the
piercing highs, the deep midrange, and tight bottom end in a guitar this
size. Delicate graduation of tops and backs give these instruments
an ancient sound in the body of a newborn.
This is an ancient Hawaiian Koa Guitar with ebony fingerboard and bridge,
rosette sound-hole inlay, gold plated tuning pegs, inlayed dot fret markers
with a double dot on the 12th fret, and inlayed Anahola mountain logo
in the head-stock.
