It is believed by many that the best violins that have ever been made are being made now. Never before has the world experienced a "golden age of luthierie" combining rapidly advancing recording availability and a booming entertainment industry with the acceptance of stepping into new musical territory--all providing a fertile ground for indisputable refinements in the evolution of the guitar and violin. The Koa violin represents the maker's lifework, the connection with 100 generations of ancestral legacy. Inspired by the instruments of Stradivari and Guarneri, the maple back, sides, and neck are instead carved from the Hawaiian Koa. The Guarneri model has captivated classical and jazz players alike, holding its own with the Italian masters, the sound is truly astounding. The first Guarneri model Koa violin was featured in concert with Yo-Yo Ma and the Grateful Dead, played and purchased by bassist extraordinaire, Rob Wasserman.
